Former Doctor Who Peter Capaldi has welcomed Ncuti Gatwa as the latest actor to take on the coveted time travelling role.
Following the news on Sunday that Gatwa had landed the role, thousands of people rushed to congratulate the Sex Education star, including quite a few famous faces.
Capaldi said he completes the trio of former Scottish time lords to congratulate the actor: “What a great story – a little boy whose family escaped from the genocide in Rwanda in 1994 and at age two, finds refuge in Scotland, where he grows up to become Doctor Who.
“That’s a story to be proud. With his huge talent and heart, I know Ncuti will make an amazing Doctor. How exciting.”
In a feature for STV News, seventh Doctor McCoy said: “Welcome Ncuti Gatwa, welcome to our unique club. The Doctor Who club! You are very welcome.
“We will be delighted to watch you take on the Daleks, the cybermen, and the critics.”

“I am so looking forward to facing all of those, especially the last one that you mentioned.
“And the support from you and all the fellow doctors has just filled me with the strength that I will be able to do that.
“Thank you so much for welcoming me into the family, it means the world. Sylvester you’re a gentleman – all the best.”
